Bailey: Self-Love Movement

Alyx is a Northwest Arkansas boudoir photographer who believes that every body is beautiful and worthy of love. She started the Sheer Boudoir Self-Love Movement to help normalize normal bodies and to encourage women all over the Northwest Arkansas area to share their stories and journeys to self-love and acceptance. The stories shared are unique to each individual and are each woman’s own words.

Bailey is a self-proclaimed tomboy and describes herself growing up as “one of the guys.” She loves the outdoors, camping, hiking, and is mama to two pitbull fur babies! She wanted to be part of the Sheer Boudoir Self-Love Movement because she feels that all women need to be reminded of their beauty.

“Self-love means being confident in yourself and loving everything about you. Confidence is key. True body positivity is an ongoing process of changing beliefs, thoughts and behaviors and examining how they interact with one another. Body positivity is a process and requires the practice of self-compassion and acceptance.”

“I am still working on [loving myself]. I’m definitely still growing- I used to hate myself and my body because I was always more muscular. I went through times where I just didn’t eat and starved myself because of that. I felt like my body was manly – not feeling feminine enough was a huge issue. I’m working on loving myself. I’m progressing. I’m working on it every day and just trying to stay positive.”

Keep going no matter how hard it is. Be realistic with yourself. Stop comparing yourself. I am working on making sure I’m comfortable with myself and my own skin. I’m not going to compare myself to a model whose photos are super edited and set unrealistic expectations. Focus on just loving your body for what it is.”
