Cowgirls Don’t cry
Cowgirls Don't Cry
When my studio mate told me she had bought a large cowhide rug, we immediately started brainstorming ways to use it in our Bentonville Boudoir Studio. As I was falling asleep, I kept envisioning a dark, moody session with boots, cigars, and bourbon. I wanted filtered window light, a ratty plaid shirt, and an “I don’t give a f***” attitude. I thought of the song “Cowgirls don’t Cry” – in particular the verse below.
To me, it depicts a woman who didn’t quite have things work out the way she wanted, but didn’t let it break her. Anyway, I threw an outfit together, got out the lights and tripod, and shot this short series of images.
She got married
Never was quite right
She wanted a house, a home and babies
He started coming home late at night
She didn’t let him see it break her heart
She didn’t let him see her fall apart
